New Year's Resolutions for 2024

For many years I didn't set New Year's Resolutions at the beginning of every year, but the last couple years I've been trying to.  They aren't rigid resolutions, per se, just goals for things I want to change or accomplish in the coming year.

Last year (and the year before) I made a goal to make my doll spaces more usable.  Last January, we swapped the bedroom into the smaller room to give the doll room-and-office more space in the master.  It's a decision I have never once regretted!  Throughout the year, we made improvements here and there, but I didn't really finish everything I had wanted to do, despite focusing most of the week between Christmas and New Year's on the project last month.

This month I'm continuing the strong push we started in December, though, and I've gotten a lot done so far.  So that's part of my goals for 2024: to finish the doll spaces improvement projects early in the year (so that I can enjoy them the rest of the year!).

The other part of my goals for 2024 reflects the fact that I've really fallen off the wagon lately as far as my doll business is concerned.  I haven't been posting much, and I haven't been working on dolls either.  Part of that was due to the chaos of the last few months of the year: NaNoWriMo (National Novel Writing Month) in November, which I volunteer for as a local organizer, plus car problems and plumbing problems that each took weeks to resolve.  Part of it is also that my organization projects (and the lack of organization) have left my work spaces mostly unusable.

In other words, I need to finish cleaning up and organizing my doll spaces before I can get back to restoring and photographing dolls.

So that's my second goal for 2024, to start putting more work into my business again: taking pictures, filming, posting content, getting caught up on client dolls, restoring and selling my duplicates, and marketing myself more seriously.  It's a more general goal, and I don't expect to make any progress toward it until the organization project is finished.

As it happens, though, the bulk of the organization project does have a deadline of the end of January: Both my parents are having surgery about a week apart in early February.  Both surgeries are expected to be fairly fast recoveries, but even so, I'm expecting to have a little bit of a crazy couple of months to kick off this year!

I'm looking forward to finally being able to share some of my doll spaces once this big organization overhaul is finished, and my doll room is presentable (and playable!) again!
